Building Social Value: New Allotment Project at West Coventry Academy

We’re proud to have played our part in a meaningful social value project at West Coventry Academy, working alongside Morgan Sindall Construction and the University of Warwick.

Together, we transformed an unused area of the school grounds into a thriving new allotment space, designed to benefit both the school community and future generations. The project saw the installation of six raised beds, filled with nutrient-rich compost and connected by a bark path, creating an inviting and practical growing area.

The allotment will provide the school chef with the opportunity to grow fresh fruit and vegetables on-site, which will be prepared and served directly to students. This sustainable initiative not only supports healthy eating but also encourages environmental awareness, wellbeing, and outdoor learning.

At its heart, this project is about social value – creating spaces that have a lasting positive impact on people and communities. By collaborating across education, construction, and landscaping, the team has delivered more than just an allotment: we’ve created a resource that empowers young people to understand where food comes from, promotes healthier lifestyles, and enriches the school environment.

This partnership showcases the true power of collaboration, with businesses and institutions working together to achieve meaningful outcomes that will make a difference for years to come.
