This transformational project formed part of a major refurbishment programme to upgrade the hospital as part of a national initiative to eradicate dormitory wards. The vision was not only to improve healthcare environments for older adult mental health services in Sandwell, but also to extend a positive legacy into the local community through skill-building and employment opportunities.
