At Vernon Park in Wolverhampton, our commercial landscaping team delivered a large-scale soft landscaping scheme for a flagship 100,000 sq ft, two-storey industrial and distribution warehouse, designed to transform the exterior environment and create visual interest around the development.
The project involved significant ground preparation and levelling across uneven terrain, ensuring a stable foundation for planting and seeding works. We imported and graded subsoil and topsoil, before applying amenity and wildflower seeding to enhance biodiversity and seasonal interest, finished with bark mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
In total, over 4,700 shrubs were installed, including more than 700 Lonicera nitida ‘May Green’—a dense evergreen shrub ideal for screening and structured hedging—and over 600 Cornus alba ‘Elegantissima’, valued for its cream-variegated foliage and striking red winter stems that provide year-round visual impact. The scheme also included over 2,700 hedging plants and more than 30 trees, alongside a native woodland and native shrub mix comprising over 1,900 shrubs to strengthen the ecological value of the site.
To further support local wildlife, we installed hibernacula, bird boxes and bat boxes, helping to create a more sustainable and nature-friendly landscape around this major Wolverhampton industrial development.
